Waitress

A sweet movie, about Jenna, who is a waitress at Joe's diner, and has a knack for making delicious pies. Each pie has a great name, and great ingredients, like "the lonely nights in Chicago" pie, Mermaid Pie, the "I don't want Earl's Baby" pie. I enjoy the "pregnant miserable self pitying loser pie" made with lumpy oatmeal, with fruitcake mashed in and flambed!

During the whole movie she sings this sweet little song, and now I can't get the diddy out of my head. Guess Audra is getting a new song.

And speaking of pie, all our raspberry bushes are blooming, and I believe the batch that Jamie picked today, will be the perfect amount for a pie. After watching Waitress, I feel like I should be creative and name my pie something special. We'll see how it turns out before I name it!

time is flying....

I have been a slacker lately and haven't posted much. Past two weeks have been spent playing and enjoying time with both of my honeys.
We celebrated Jay's first father's day. Lots of little presents from Audra! We went to brunch at the Miller's (which was great!) and Audra got to celebrate father's day with her other grandpa. It was a great day.
I have been sewing up a storm. Lots of different burp cloths to test out different patterns and finishes. A few more pages for Audra's quiet book, and my newest obsession, felt food. I have a hamburger set all finished, some ravioli, even poptarts. I am also in love with this little brown felt lunch bag I made. It turned out rather well, if I do say so myself. I think certain lines could be straighter, or more even, but really, for only sewing for two weeks, I'm not doing too bad.
Audra and I have been trying to spend as much time outside as possible. Her little swimming pool is getting lots of use, and we have been going to the driving park to use the splash pad. All the outside time is great for the tan I am getting. Can't remember the last time I was this tan! lol.
Audra's eating a little more, but still isn't overly thrilled with solids. She is eating arrowroots and seems to love turnips (of all vegetables!). I am going to start giving her finger food sized items, and see if she is more happy feeding herself. I can't imagine it being fun having someone shove a spoon filled with mush into your mouth. At this point, she isn't eating for nutrition value, she is just eating to test out the whole food thing. It's going to be messy, but it will definitely be fun!

crafty days

as mentioned earlier, i have been putting my new favourite item to use, and have been sewing up a storm. have made a bunch of burp cloths, in various styles and patterns. i even added tags to one of them which Audra is very fond of chewing, hence why i put them on the cloth! lol.
i have also started Audra's quiet/busy book, which makes me super excited. i figure by the time i have all the pages done, she will be able to use it. it is definitely not the book to give miss drooly/biting/eating puss!

Fun week

Another week comes and goes. We had lots of fun in the sun, some swimming and lots of visiting. Audra made her way up to St Billys twice in one week! Both visits were fantastic! Love going and just hanging out. Great food and great company (and one very great gift in the form of a snazzy new sewing machine [thanks Jim!!]) The only downfall of this weekend has been the huge honking headache I have had that won't seem to subside. Here's hoping the weather is better this week. Although I now have a million projects I want to start tackling. I will post my beginnings into the world of sewing, so far, one burp cloth, 2 pages in the quiet book and lots and lots of practice stitches!
Here's to a good week ahead ............

summer fun

June has rolled in, and as usual, time is flying by. Too quickly for my liking. We got a jogging stroller that kicks butt. It's nice and light and perfect for trekking around. The other buggy is great, but heavy for lots of walking, which we have been doing lots of.
Hanging out by the pool, visiting the splash pad at the driving park, as long as there is water near by, Audra is thrilled.
Visited and visiting lots of grandparents, great to see everyone.

14,14

Another month, another doctor's appt. Audra is 14 pounds, 14 ounces. I really thought she was going to be heavier. Nice mom eh? But that means she only gained about a pound this past month. I guess her growth is starting to slow down. She has almost tripled in size, and she's not even 6 months yet. We don't have much to worry about though, her gains have been great. She hasn't been sick and we can actually go 4-5 hours between feeds. Not like she will let us get to that time!
Her second round of shots are over and done with, and so far, so good. No major reactions.
