Last days of October

Oct 23rd has past, and my little monkey is 10 months old. How has that happened?
She is on the move and no stopping her now. If she isn't crawling or moving, she is getting into things, or pulling herself up on everything! lol.
She has a whopping 3 teeth and they seem to be growing in a little more everyday. I am sure more are not far behind. The drool has been plentiful lately.
We had a pretty low key week. I wasn't feeling fantastic. Have been coughing up a storm and a sore throat and tickle has been creeping around. We did manage to get the usual errands done, play date with some friends, lots of mommy and baby time, and tried my best to not get Audra sick.
Saturday we went up to Barrie to celebrate Jamie's birthday. We had a feast at Diane's, lots of great snacks and lots of fun family time. Gram was so excited to see Audra and I am glad we got to spend the time with her.
Sunday we had another feast, we went to the Mandarin for more birthday festivities, with Jim and Sue. Audra of course was the star of the show, or the restaurant. The waitress kept asking if she was ok, and Audra was all smiles for her. Such a ham!
So many projects on the go. Have a burger set to finish off, need to finish some presents for Jamie, and bags to put them in. Have invitations to start for the bridal shower I'm planning, and plan some things for Audra's bday. (I have started the goodie bags for the kids, cookie cutters arrived, celo bags are on order, but my list seems to be neverending!)
And at some point, I will plan some meals and do some grocery shopping. Wednesday Jamie wants to go out for dinner, so that will be easy!
Looking forward to the end of this week, Jamie starts two weeks of vacation, which will be nice. He has garage stuff to do, but I think we will be able to squeeze in some family time together, which I am looking forward to!

Cozy Kitchen

I am a sucker for all things kitchen. Hence the felt food obsession. I found this super cute little kitchen for Audra and couldn't resist. She loves it so far. She is too funny with it. Somedays she likes having all the door open, other days, if you open them on her, she shuts them right quick. She is quite the character and has so much personality! Who would have thought?

Infinity Scarf

I have written before how much I heart luvinthemommyhood.com. It is a great crafty site and I wish I had buckets of time so I could make everything I see.

Well, Shannon posted a wonderful tutorial the other day about an infinity scarf
(http://www.luvinthemommyhood.com/2010/10/infinity-beyond-scarf-tutorial.html) and I couldn't wait to try it out. I have had this piece of fabric kicking around just waiting to have the perfect project for it, and voila! It's burberry like with the plaid and it's flannel and soft and wonderfully right for this project.

It took me maybe an hour from start to finish? The length wasn't right, so I ended up hacking it in half and sewing it together. And the middle line is not noticeable at all! I am kinda proud of myself for it.
Ok, the pictures are horrible, just focus in on the scarf and not everything around it! lol

Invitations are on their way

A small portion of the invitations for Audra's birthday. Yes, I realize it is still two months away, but it's prime christmas season and I want to get the invites out so people know about it. Can't wait to show off the final product.
There was a mix up so Jamie and I actually had to make the final products and I think they will turn out better the printed ones. Yay!!!

Family of Pumpkins

Here are my fabric pumpkins proudly displayed on my window with my mod podged gourd. I think they look not too bad actually.
Not really a huge halloween decorator, as opposed to Jamie who loves to decorate, but I love fall and think these work on both levels.
Still have a wreath to make.....

Thanksgiving

3 Days, 3 Turkey dinners-offically stuffed!
We had a great couple of days, visiting with family, catching up and of course eating. Audra, like always was the hit. Who thought that the best show would be a nine month old? lol
Great dinners and fantastic desserts. My pumpkin pie was tasty, and the butterscotch pie I made was delish! There was cheesecake and Pear Pie, and a yummy pumpkin pie made by Nickey, mmm...all were great. Leftovers are filling my fridge!
Turkey stock is currently bubbling on my stove, mmm...turkey noodle soup eventually.

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful, and my list is very long. Most thankful for all the time I got to spend with family this weekend, and that I didn't have to work and miss any of that time.

Fall Fair Time

This was one busy weekend. Audra's face says it all, she LOVED the fairs. We managed to get to the Rockton World's Fair, the Simcoe Fair and Horse Show (huge!) and of course the Balls Falls Autumn Fair. We had a great days, although Balls Falls was a little wet for our liking, and it was fantastic having a couple of family days together. Audra loved all the animals, and Friday we discovered she wouldn't sit in her buggy if there were animals around, so the next two days she got carried around. She looked very cute all kangaroo style. It was like being pregnant all over again carrying her aound. There is definitely a reason people do not carry until the child is 20 lbs!

So many animals, so many birds, and so many fair goodies were had by us. We really enjoyed the days, and it was great to take Audra to her first fairs. I know she had a great time!

Couldn't resist.....

So much is said in that little happy face! I couldn't resist posting it. She's such a happy baby during the day, it's wonderful. She's become quite the little ham lately when pulling out the camera. How do they know? lol

Candy Corn Bunting

Recently I blogged about this great candy corn bunting that I wanted to make from Funky Polkadot Giraffe (http://funkypolkadotgiraffe.blogspot.com/2010/09/tutorial-candy-corn-bunting.html)
and her tutorial was great.
I think mine turned out not bad. I probably could have made a few more, but I didn't want it huge.

My fall/hallowe'en decorating is slowly but surely coming together. My fabric pumpkins are just awaiting stems, and they will join my fabric covered gourd and small mini pumpkins in the window.

Mail Presents

I heart mail.
I love hearing the mailbox lid shut and knowing the mailman has come. Sadly, most things in my mailbox are usually bills and flyers, but occassionally there are some fun things.

Case in point, the other day, the FedEx truck actually pulled up to my house. Yay!!!
Awhile back I was contacted by Melissa of Wean Cubes, asking if I would like to try out the products. Sure, why not.
In doing some research, I found that Wean Cubes are eco-friendly baby food containers. Made of glass, so BPA, PVC, Phthalates, and Plasticizer free. Has a silicone smart snap lid, and can be stored, heated and frozen. (and can I just throw in Canadian made? makes me proud!)
All this is sounding great. So I have been patiently waiting for my cubes to come in, and yay, they finally arrived.

And can I just say, I heart, heart, heart the colours. So fun. Can't wait to test them out and show them off.

These are the website and blog addresses. The website has tons of info on the cubes and ordering info. The blog is great for anyone wanting to make their own food, it has recipes and tips and advice. It's a great mom blog to follow! lol.

Taggie Blankie & Burb cloth

I am very happy with the way this burp cloth and taggie blanket turned out. I am especially happy with the fact that I had them both done Sunday afternoon, from start to finish. I am liking them so much that they may not make it as gifts!
The floral fabric is just so fun, and the minky pink fabric is so soft and snuggly.

Visiting Friends

Last week we went up to London to visit Ang, Leah and Julian.
It was a fun day of catching up, and letting the girls play together. They are both so freaking cute!!! Leah was a real friend and shared her toys!

I made a set of finger puppets for Leah to play with. They turned out pretty well actually. I even made the little roll to put them into. I love the crayon roll so used that idea for it.

Costume and crafts

My little monkey in her Hallowe'en costume. I can't wait to take her out. Or rather, for Jamie to take her out. This will be the first and only year that he gets to eat all the candy they collect. I am sure by next year, Dad will not be able to eat her candy until she goes to bed! lol. The outfit is a little big, but she will stay warm.

There are so many great hallowe'en crafts and projects and usually I am not a huge fan of this certain occassion, but maybe because I have time this year to actually focus on it, I am a little more drawn to it.
My list of items waiting to be made is already huge, but I think I am going to be adding

This fantastic candy corn bunting, which would be lovely if I had a mantel to hang it off of. It would also make a great wreath. I also found some wreaths with salted dough candy corns on it that I think I would like to try.
And if that doesn't work, there are these two great wreaths that would be fantastic hanging on my doors.
