A little crispy

The week of walks has finally caught up with me. My legs are a wee sore, and my skin is a little burnt. Apparently the sun was a little warm today. The walks were well worth it though, need the exercise, it usually helps Audra from being so fussy, and it's nice to be out of the house. Kat and I took her to the park for the first time yesterday, and she was too cute. She fell asleep as we rolled into the driving park and proceeded to sleep in the swing. Does that surprise me seeing as she loves to fall asleep in her swing at home? Nope. She did wake briefly and seemed to enjoy it. Can't wait to take her to the park when she's older-she will love it. She already loves the movement of the car, her swing, bouncing around, so she will the park. Can't wait.

fun filled week

another fun filled week passes, and once again i wonder where the time is going?
audra has become so vocal this past week or so. when she is awake, she is constantly shrieking, giggling, murmuring, it's great. i am not in any rush for her to start walking, but talking-can't wait. she yells at her mobile when in her bassinet, it's great. she also has been getting very angry at the cakes on her exersaucer, i think the anger comes from them not fitting into her mouth! so we spin her to another part and she is happy again. and can i know why the 1-2-3 tea for me exersaucer, teapot that sings, does not sing "i'm a little teapot"? am i the only person that thinks that's odd?

Mmmm...food

Mmmmm...first few bites of cereal. Audra was mildly indifferent towards it. She ate it, didn't spit it up, but wasn't overly excited for it. Humourous facial expressions!
Hard to believe we are starting real food. It amazes me daily how fast she is growing. Where has the time going?

last snowsuit day?

during some of our walks last week, the cutest snowsuit was worn. here's hoping that this will be the last time that it has to make an appearance. audra is usually great when we head out for walks. she looks so cute all bundled up, but i bet she will look just as cute in little shorts and tshirts, with little chubby legs kicking!
got to look into getting her a turtle pool for the summertime!

another week

another week older, where did last week disappear to?
we had a few big walks, have i mentioned how much i love being in dundas? how our neighbourhood is so nice and quiet and perfect for such things?
mothergoose and baby massage rounded out our week.
uncle haack came to visit, went and saw aunt charlotte swim and had a great dinner out with the grandparents. audra was all over the place!
a very full week indeed.
we have started this week off with two big walks and today was audra's first trip to the park. we sat on our blanket, had some lunch and watched all the kids running around and having fun on the equipment. in the next few weeks when she can totally keep her head securely up, we will test out the swings. i bet she will love it, as the home swing is a huge hit.

planned a great week of meals-yum. made a fantastic meatball stroganoff. and a great blt crescent pizza. (i love blt's!) i find it humourous that they have websites devoted to planning your meals. i also realize that not everyone has the collection of cookbooks that i do. it makes for easy grocery shopping and planning.

another day, another tuesday

Last mommy and me yoga class today. A little sad, but I am sure we will try to take the class again. The next round conflicted with stroller fitness (sounds weird, I know, but it will get us outside, walking and exercising at a park with other moms!), but we did get into the mommy and me fitness class. That will be a more challenging class. The baby becomes your weight, and I am sure all the lugging around I do now prepares me slightly, but an hour of not putting her down? Here's hoping she doesn't gain too much weight in the next two months! Some weeks feel so busy, but I enjoy getting out to meet other moms and because we seem to migrate around, we have met some great moms at the Limeridge location, the Dundas Early Yrs center is huge and the Waterdown one is funky. At each place, the staff and moms have been great. No dads though. Kinda interesting. Met another mom who exclusively pumps, thought I was the only one! I guess it feels that way somedays. And have met moms who can't believe that I do pump. Hey, the desire to feed her outweighs the convience I suppose. You do what you have to do.
Speaking of, time to feed and get this little one off to bed.
Another day, another Tuesday.....

big girl

12 pounds, 8 ounces. How has my little tiny baby gotten so big? Hard to believe that she was ever so small. She is becoming quite the little person now. Her smile lights up her face and defnitely has her good days and bad days. She is lucky that she is so cute on those not so great days! It's always an adventure, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Binky

Found a soother that Audra will actually take. Is that possible?
I believe I once said that the things moms get excited for, and talk about after having children was rather funny, yet, I find myself falling into that group and category.
And the things you will talk about with other moms-priceless I suppose. Who knew that weight and feeding and soothers would be the "hot" topic. But as I have stated before, I wouldn't change it for the world. There is no greater job then being a mom and yes, that sounds so cheesy, but another perk of being a mom, you can write that and get away with it!

Best Stock Ever!

After having easter turkey, I volunteered to take the carcass, because the thought of making some kick ass stock and then soup really excited me. I love soup. Making it, eating it, sharing it. There is something so very comforting about soup. I have done a few bean soups in my slow cooker that have been fantastic. My split pea rivaled the leading competitors! Cooked my stock in a few parts as it was a busy weekend, but the end result was a rich dark coloured turkey stock that made my kitchen (and house for that matter) smell like thanksgiving. Great stock = great soup. I love pouring in way too many noodles and the resulting soup gets thicker and thicker as the days go on. Mmmmmmmmm....

April Fooling

A few shots from the past couple of days. Cute poses, pretty eggs, shiny new charms and a sleeping jumper.

Hoppy Easter!!!

It was a crazy Easter weekend, spent travelling, visiting and eating. I baked an excellent pear bread (pear cake is more like it), yummy raspberry thumbprint cookies and following the pear theme, pear pie.
We saw grandparents and great-gram, got great easter hats and cute bunnies and toys. So much chocolate and Audra's first egg hunt. It was a great weekend. The weather was fantastic, got some outdoor time, and it amazes me how warm it actually was. I really don't remember the beginning of April being this warm. Not going to complain about it, but it means all that great land that we love so much will need some serious attention. There is a downside occassionally to having the property we have. But if this week stays nice, we'll go hang out side.
Turkey soup is bubbling away, the house smells all warm and soupy. The windows are cracked open and the birds are a singing. Been a great day.
Going to be a busy week, we start Mothergoose this week, lots of singing I assume. We also still have yoga and massage this week. And a doctors appt. Oi! What a week!
