Nesting

So there has been some serious nesting going on around here. I think I am driving Jamie a little crazy, but just can't help myself. I guess I know time will be in short supply once Baby E gets here, so I want to get everything done now. And this is just a smattering. The list is huge! I think I may need to re-evaluate it a little. laugh.
New curtains, yes the border is leftover from the quilt. That damn quilt, and my love for that fabric. I blame all this nesting and redo-ing on it. I just want to wrap the room in pretty, girly, fun fabric.
A new bookshelf for Audra's books. I will eventually make another one for the other side of the room. Audra has enough books that she could fill a few of these. And such fun fabric.
New alphabet posters. I painted the frames. Can't wait to hang them up. The pictures are so cute and I fell in love with them. Jamie used his magic and made them all fit onto two posters.
Going through totes of clothes and pulling out all the baby stuff. Crazy to think Audra didn't fit into because she was so small, and I look at now, and think how was she ever that small? laugh.
And when two girls have to share a dresser, you need to upgrade that dresser. Jamie and I got new dressers for our room so my old one, got a face lift.
The two frames, and all the dresser knobs got a fresh coat of pink paint. I will have to take a picture of the finished product. It looks great and girly.
And with some more leftover scraps, I made another pillow to match the other one and the quilt. I still have a jelly roll of the same fabric that I am going to make into a quilt for Audra. I will need to add to it to make it fit the twin size bed. So will need to look for some cute fabric to add to it.
I wanted to make a ruffle bed skirt for the crib and Audra's bed. I also wanted to recover the bumper pad, which I think could be do-able. The peeling of Winnie the Pooh border, may not happen. We'll see. I have been sick with this awful cold, turned sinus infection, that I finally got antibiotics for, so we'll see what I can accomplish when I get better. Yes, I know, neither girl will notice or care, but this momma just can't help it.

8 Years

Happy 8 years. Wow, where has the time gone? It's been better then incredible, and even though someone doesn't read this blog, he would agree with me.

Lately.....

Fun with glue and arts and crafts. Someone loves crafts. Give the girl some stickers, paper, glue and scissors and she's in heaven. Must be like momma with her stationary obsession.
We play and make messes. This disaster was created in less then 10 minutes. How does that even happen?
All ready for Halloween. Great Lion costume. And of course, what would the costume be without the shades? Audra is now going around saying "knock, knock, trick or treat". Too bad she doesn't understand the concept of time, and that Halloween is still a little ways away.
And the potty battle continues. She will sit, both in the bathroom and on the little potty, but lately, we have been at a standstill. Won't go. It's mildly frustrating for all parties involved. She will go at daycare occasionally, but home, nope. Smarties, cute underwear, bribes, been doing it all. Less then four weeks, do we think it will happen before baby sister arrives? My guess is no. Grrr.. two children in diapers? Shoot me now!

Month 32

Well month 32 is long done, but figured before month 33 rolls around, I'd better do some updating. This is Audra waiting for her big surprise. Jamie and I had been hard at work, making some peg people into Disney princesses.

I think she likes them, don't you?

We have taken to eating like a proper family in the dining room. It's funny, in all our years together, it was not something we did. But it definitely helps someone to eat a little better.
We went to the Dundas Cactus Festival Parade, and it was great seeing the whole town come together. We played in the park afterwards and Audra loved seeing all the floats go by.
Two messy haired girls. Bought Audra a little highchair for her dolls and she loves it. It has now become a permanent fixture in the dining room and it's funny to see who comes to dinner some nights.
First trip to the beach with the grandparents was a total success. I knew my water baby would love it once she got used to it. I think Papa and Grandma Sue had just as much fun!Audra was a little unsure of the water and sand at first, but once she got in the water, she was hooked. I see lots of future trips to the beach next summer. And we'll have to get Baby E used to the water and sand too.
August for the most part, flew by. September is doing the same thing.
Good bye to a fun summer, hello to a busy, and exciting fall.

Summer Harvest

One large bushel of Roma tomatoes. Why yes, the pregnant girl thought bringing home this many would be a great idea.
This was the stage, that the pregnant girl with the sprained ankle had to use the garage stool to sit and peel tomatoes.
Homemade tomato sauce!
My first batch of cucumbers to pickles. Didn't have a lot, this year hasn't been a great one for cukes.
So a few were sliced up and pickled and put away.
Then the garden center called and said they had a half bushel, or close to, and would I want it? But of course and the cycle started all over again. Lots of great dill pickles, that should last us until at least the winter. laugh.
And with the remaining tomatoes I made homemade Ketchup. Now with one little babe who loves to dip dip, I cringe to think how much sugar is in all those Heinz bottles. Now I don't feel bad when she douses everything in it. It has very little sugar, I actually didn't put even half of what the recipe called for. And the bonus, it actually tastes like ketchup. A little runnier, but still pretty decent. No complaints from my little babe, or the bigger babe, who also douses things in ketchup.

Some items for Baby E

Nesting is in full swing around here. I made a few little headbands, preparing for another relatively bald baby. Little bows and headbands are so cute for babies to wear. Trying not to make the big, huge and gaudy ones you see all the time. Their little heads are so small, why overpower them.
And because one quilt isn't enough, started another one. This one is a lot smaller, so will be perfect for car rides and covering the car seat when we're out. And the best part? Having Jamie help me cut it. lol. He is so sweet. My belly is getting in the way of things like that, so he graciously helped me cut it. Had a great trim for the edging and ran out. So the quilt is on hold til I get more bias tape.

Big Belly

Pregnant belly shots. I keep forgetting to update the weeks on my shirt, and want to get a few belly shots in. Need to do another momma and poppa belly picture.
And because I am carrying so different with this little girl, if I lean back I can perch items on my belly. Hahha. Couldn't resist posting.

August days, sick times and some crafts....

Back in August (how is it already September?) we had some really sick days with the little Monkey. It was probably one of the first times I thought, she's not eating enough, do we take her to emerg? Thankfully we got through it. But man, those couple of days were rough for everyone involved. Look at that face.
Her little couch was her island. We watched a few princess movies, over and over, and both slept. There wasn't much playing, just lots of cuddles and snuggles, which I won't lie, was great, as those are few and far between with our little ball of energy.

When we started to feel better, we did some mani and pedi's. She is so freaking cute with painted little piggies.
A pinterest craft I have been wanting to do for sometime now. I painted the tin, and had those pom poms. Audra can sort them, match colours, all that fun stuff. We also have a little pair of tongs that she uses to move the pom poms around, to help her dexterity.
A craft that I have been dying to do for some time, was homemade chap stick. Super easy and I love it. Why have I waited so long? It is literally Vaseline and koolaid. The koolaiod adds a little tint to your lip and the Vaseline keeps lips puckery smooth.
Another craft on the list was an I-Spy bag. So inside are lots of little items, and I printed a picture, so as you shake it and move the rice around you can find other items. The sewing is crap on this first one. The vinyl and I were not friends. But now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
