Menu Planning Tuesday

Once again, I somehow missed posting on Monday. I'll blame it on a busy weekend and being distracted.
All the birthday festivities were great. Lots of family and friends time. Lots of presents and cake and cupcakes. Yum.
This week is easy, like those kinda weeks.

Monday: we had salisbury steaks, yummy herbed & glazed carrots
Tuesday: perogies and broccoli soup
Wednesday: leftovers
Thursday: chicken & rice
Friday: burgers (hopefully we can bbq) & sweet potato fries
Saturday: fish of some sort
Sunday: supperdish, a Jamie fav

A good week.

Zoom Zooms

We went to a great indoor playground last week, Zoom Zoom's and the kids had a blast. It will definitely be a great place in the future to run around in, climb all the equipment and slide down all the crazy tube slides. For now, the kids enjoyed all the toys and hanging out with mom. Audra LOVED the little cozy coupe car. She kept opening and closing the doors, honking the horn, and turning the steering wheel. Think she might take after her dad? (and Grandpa?)

Menu Planning Monday, well Tuesday...

A bit late on this post. Last week's menu was a good menu. The timpano was great. We had a great birthday dinner on Saturday for Diane, chinese food and family times. Sunday we had Diane and Gram over for beef strognaff, which turned out great-thanks slow cooker!

This week, an easy menu.

Monday: was leftovers
Tuesday: chix tenders and sweet potato fries
Wednesday: supper dish
Thursday: birthday dinner out with Jamie & Audra
Friday: talipia and scalloped potatoes
Saturday: spaghet and meatballs
Sunday: birthday dinner at the Millers-mmm chilli

A nice easy peasy menu. Not tons of groceries have to be bought, just all the usual suspects, fruit and veggies. That's the bonus of having a baby eating real foods now, we want her to eat healthy, so as a result, we do too.

Timpano

Mmmm...timpano.
All those wonderful ingredients wrapped in dough and baked to perfection. Well, somewhat perfection. Timpano, as the name suggests is drum shaped. I didn't have a drum shape container to bake it in, so I had to use a 50 pan, square pan, and the dish turned out, but I really understand the need for a round dish. I think it would have stayed together a bit better if it was done in round form, but that's what cooking is all about. Trial and error.
It was a great anniversary meal and we were eating leftovers for days.
Next time, a round dish, maybe some more cheese too to hold it all together.

Monkey Bread

This is Monkey Bread, An ooey, gooey pull apart sweet pastry. I meant to post this when I made it, but forgot. The recipe changes with each person. I cheated and didn't make the bread, I used Pillsbury biscuits, that I cut up and rolled into balls, then dipped into sugar and cinnamon. I made the caramel sauce though, and layered it with rolled dough and sweet glazed nuts. mmmmmmmmm.........

Menu Planning Monday-Sept 13

Another week, another Monday rolls in.
Had a great last week. It was finally a little cooler, so lots of walks.
We had lunch with the ladies and gents, Marilu and Raf and Laura and Liam, and Antonella. Then Jamie, Audra and I went to Toronto to visit Leslie and Dave, got to see their place, dropped off some baby stuff for the little gal to use when she gets here and had a great bbq dinner.
Got some great deals at the garage sale, Audra's bday and christmas pile is starting to grow a bit. (crazy that I am already thinking that far ahead, and even crazier that it's not that far away!!)
Helped Matt move, his house is great. I know him and Charlotte are going to love it there.
And rounded out the weekend with a corn roast up in Cambridge with Ian and his family's church. The corn was to die for and the menonite sausages, yum in my tum!!!!!!
This week will I'm sure be just as busy, hoping to make some time for my sewing machine and some projects. The project list just keeps on growing!!!!
Tuesday is our six year anniversay, and I am going to make us Timpano. So excited to try it out. Big Night is a great foodie movie and have loved it for years. Each time I watch it, I drool over the Timpano (a drum like feast all wrapped in dough and stuffed inside with delicious meats, sauce and pasta), so my goal is to make that for us to try. Fingers crossed it works out well.

This is what the rest of my food week is going to look like:

Monday: dinner at the Miller's for Matt's bday
Tuesday: Timpano!!!!
Wednesday: cheesy potato and bacon soup, timpano leftovers
Thursday: Beef Stroganoff
Friday: Chicken Stuffing Pot Pie
Saturday: birthday dinner for Diane
Sunday: tiliapia and scalloped potatoes

Jamie's mom Diane, and Gram are coming down for the weekend, it will be great to see them. Gram is going to come visit our place for the first time, which will exciting. It will be great to have her here. We are hoping to do a bit of a party for Diane's birthday on Saturday, it's a big birthday!!!

Now, have lots to prepare for my timpano, so need to get cracking. All prep today, then assembling and putting together tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Cloth Toys

Actually got some sewing in last week. Started with a square soft cube for Audra, who loves it. Stack it up with some of her other soft blocks and she knocks them down with such force. It's great. It was super easy, so I see more blocks in her future. I am waiting on some Winnie the Pooh fabric so maybe when it comes in, I will make her more.

Also made some snacks bags, as featured on luvinthemommyhood. They were even easier. They will come in handy, and I am already thinking of more uses for them.

And my big project for the week was a shopping cart cover for Audra to sit in while we are out grocery shopping. I haven't taken a picture yet, but will post one later on. It's not perfect, but hopefully will do the trick. I added some ribbons so I can attach toys to it for her. And at least it looks like it will work. That makes me excited. Can't wait for our next shopping trip to test it out. I always scoffed at parents who put their kids in similar covers, but after the first time of putting Audra in the seat and buckling her up, the first thing she did, was try and put her mouth on the handle-ew. I generally don't care that much about germs, but shopping carts are loaded with them I'm sure, so I care a little more. This will solve that problem.

Oh, and a felt piece of pie, which I also have to take a picture of. It turned out rather well if I do say so. I need to do some more felt sewing now that my cover is done. Need to make a turkey, that's my next big item. Wish me luck! :)

Menu Planning Monday -Sept 6th

The first Monday in September. Labor day and a stat for everyone. It's been nice having all the stats off, as I always had to work them as a manager.

This week is going to be easy. Clean out our freezer a bit. As fall slowly rolls in, I want to make some stock and soups and start stocking up the freezer. Maybe make some meals and get ahead in stocking up the freezer.

Monday: Grilled Pork Chops and salad
Tuesday: spaghet and meatballs
Wednesday: burgers and fries
Thursday: perogies with mushrooms and bacon
Friday: salmon and sausages (weird combo but I don't care for salmon)
Saturday: corn roast, assume it will be BBQ
Sunday: sole and potatoes

Looks like it's shaping up to be a good week. Jamie's off today, nice to have him home since he's been working so much and going out on the weekends. Grandpa Jim and Gramma Sue are coming for a visit, and the weather has been a nice temp the past couple of days, love being able to have the windows open. Here's hoping the weather stays cooler.

End of August

Her little shirt says it all - kissable!
Last days of August rolled through, where did the summer go?
Grammy made her a fantastic sock moneky, which is as big as her, and she loves it. It is so well made. Maybe someday I will be able to knit as well.
