3 Months

Wow! Three months have already passed. Hard to believe. We've gone from this teeny-tiny newborn, who I thought would never grow or fit into clothes, to a little monkey, growing so big every day!

She has grown into a little person. She has got to be around the 11/12 pound mark. Hard to believe she was ever 5 pounds. She expresses so much personality, and her little face says it all most days.
Audra fits into her clothes now. She is finally out of the newborn/preemie outfits, and fitting into 0-3 months. She has a closet that is bursting at the seams, and a dresser full of clothes that I would like to see her wear before the seasons shift and she doesn't get to test out those adorable clothes. I know it is a fact, most babies don't get to wear all their clothes they are given, but I would really like her to. She got so many fabulous gifts.
We have been doing mommy and baby yoga, which hopefully one of these days, I can get through a whole set of positions without her needing to eat! And we started baby massage yesterday. She didn't fuss and seemed to enjoy it. Her little legs moved around but let me massage them. My hope is that these are moves I can muster up to help with the night-time fussiness.
That seems to be the only time that she really gives us grief. It seems the past week or so, 8 o'clock has become th ewitching hour. I came home yesterday to Jamie wearing earplugs! Too funny. And thankfully it's not all night, just roughly an hour or so. Maybe it's teeth already?
Either way, she is so cute and so worth any fussiness or lack of sleep.
Met a mom who exclusively pumps as well (nice to know that I am not the only one). It's encouraging to know that their are other moms in my boat. Found a book that hopefully will help me keep my sanity! Can't wait til it arrives.
Lazy Friday I think is in order. Our doctors appt got cancelled, so we have no other plans. It looks lovely and sunny (but apparently it's cold) and I think a walk is in order.

Alice

This weekend Jamie and I got out of the house and had a "date night". It was fun. We didn't get to dinner, as Saturday night before the movies is a crazy busy time. Clearly it's been awhile since I worked in a restaurant, you would think I would have remembered just how coo-coo it would be! But the movie was great, and who doesn't love a dinner of popcorn? Alice is by far one of my favourite stories, so it was great to see.

From Walt Disney Pictures and visionary director Tim Burton comes an epic fantasy adventure ALICE IN WONDERLAND, a magical and imaginative twist on some of the most beloved stories of all time. JOHNNY DEPP stars as the Mad Hatter and MIA WASIKOWSKA as 19-year-old Alice, who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror. The all-star cast also includes ANNE HATHAWAY, HELENA BONHAM CARTER and CRISPIN GLOVER. The screenplay is by Linda Woolverton. Capturing the wonder of Lewis Carroll’s beloved “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (1865) and “Through the Looking-Glass” (1871) with stunning, avant-garde visuals and the most charismatic characters in literary history -

Grandparents weekend

This past weekend was both Grandma Maggie and Grandma Sues' birthday. Lots of fun, and both big birthdays to celebrate. We went up to St Billy's (Audra's first trip there) and we had a big party in Hamilton. Audra met lots of new friends and definitely got passed around to everyone at the party (she even got some presents from people she has never met before!)

This was the weekend that we dressed Audra in her finest and she looked so freaking cute. Little dresses, and frilly tights and little white satin shoes. SO CUTE!!!!

Trifle

this was a weekend of birthdays and celebrating.

trifle has been on my list (cooking list that is) to make for some time and grandma sue's birthday was the perfect opportunity. jamie has been salivating all week with the thought and he even helped make it. we made real custard (you have to, real is the only way to go!) and real whip cream so it was divine.

best strawberry trifle
pound cake
fresh strawberries
strawberry preserves or jam
custard
whip cream

crumble pound cake, smother cake with preserves or jam, cut fresh strawberries sprinkled over top. layer with custard then whip cream. repeat. layer and repeat.

yum

busy/quiet book

i have been looking up busy/quiet books and have fallen in love. i really need to learn how to sew. there are some great ideas out in cyber land and i am trying to not steal them all. i do have some ideas that are my own which i am excited to excute and create. i think i will set a goal of trying to have it done by the time audra is 2. add it to the list of things i want to do for her. i would love to build her a homemade kitchen, or have it built for her as i am really not tool savy, but she has many men in her life that are, dad and both grandfathers! i also love the felted and knit foods that you can create for the kitchen. as i said, the list just keeps growing with each new idea i see!

baby yoga

today was our first mom and baby yoga class. it was a fun hour at the early center center. audra wasn't too bad. she let mom stretch and get a few poses in before wanting to eat. so missed a little of the class, that's fine. it was nice to be out and moving. the last few minutes we sang songs. i guess i am going to have to brush up on all my children sing-songs. lol.
discovered that audra really doesn't like her hands being tampered with. there was no turning them for the wheels on the bus song! lol. she is getting so strong on her little legs. she hates tummy time, but loves being pulled up by her hands! its crazy how fast she is growing!

to knit or not to knit

after spending all of last year making and knitting blankets for everyone else, poor audra is still without a blanket from her mom. kinda funny. she has had many made for her. a super cuddly warm one in bright crazy colours, a beautiful crocheted one in pale pinks, greens and cream, another crocheted one in whites and greens and blues-and the funny part is that they are from wonderful people who haven't even met audra yet! it's amazing how generous and wonderful people are. so giving and special and makes my heart swell, to see the outpouring of support for both jamie and i, and of course, now audra. she is one special little lady.

so after buying some super huge needles, i am going to make a little knitted something. have a great pattern for a neat blanket, but it needs super chunky wool and to date, haven't found any that i really like or want to use. also, haven't found any good deals, and with the rising cost of wool and the amount i need, the little blanket will cost close to $70! ouch!

been a long week

i'm sitting here writing, while the wee one sleeps (and snores!) right beside me. we have had quite a long week. lots of visiting, and long car rides, and presents galore!
last week the weather was fantastic, and i think we got out most days for walks. we even made it down to the library, which is no small feat with that hill! audra loves the motion of the buggy, and falls asleep pretty quickly.

we went down to london to visit ang, julian and her new friend, leah (who is a precious little peanut!). it was great seeing them, catching up and meeting leah. she is long and lean while audra is a little chunky! they were so cute side by side.

her grandma came down from barrie to visit, and spent lots of time sleeping on her! we then went up to barrie where she saw her great-grandma, who loves her to bits. at one point the two were napping on the couch together-undescribable! so adorable.
she is great in the car, both long trips, fell fast asleep.

i look at her and think, wow, where is the time going? she is getting so big. i have actually had to put away some clothes and onesies that do not fit anymore. i didn't think that day would ever come! i notice her getting bigger in her hands, if that makes any sense? her little long figers are growing! so cute, even if she is snoring like a man! lol

jolly jumping

audra is not even two and half months old yet, but is already so strong. she is bouncing on those little pudgy legs of her, and holding herself up a bit here and there. her little round chubby-cheeked face and head is getting more stable and she is able to hold it up on her own relatively well now. so with all this in mind, i set out this morning to put her in her brand new, free gift, jolly jumper. her mom is no longer on the box (their new model isn't half as cute as i was, but what can you do?, but the actual item has been re-vamped, which makes it possible for her to jump in it. the fabric goes up a lot higher and keeps her well positioned. she really didn't know what to think of it at first, so i had to bounce her. eventually she was bobbing her head, and trying to bounce a bit. she is so cute. she is going to love it once she becomes a bouncer. she was happy in it and didn't fuss, even just liked swaying. can't wait for her to really experience it.

not so creative

just when you think you are a relatively creative person, you find a website or blog that totally blows you away and suddenly i think "i'm not so creative after all".
even that sentence isn't very snazzy.
i am determined to learn how to sew. i think that is my next goal. i can knit. and if stuck always have mom to rely on for help and advice. both her and kat sew, one of them should be able to teach me! i am imagining the possibilities now.
so by the time audra is old enough, i will have made her a quiet book. that is my goal before the year is up.
also, i want to make her a kitchen. there are some gorgeous ones out there. none of that plastic out of a box set up. her grandfathers are relatively handy, and her dad is great with his hands and so patient, that between all of them, she should be able to get a great kitchen. old furniture, tv cabinets, bookshelves, you name it. re-purposing is definitely the way to go!

we will be creative, i can feel it.
