Audra and I went and visited our friend Suzy the other day. Nice hot day=great day at the pool. This is the first time Audra has been in a big pool, well that she knows of. We went when she was little, but now that she understands swimming, it was a huge hit. (and no, the picture just worked out that the beach ball is hiding my own beach ball belly! lol)
Audra wore her new lifejacket from Gramps. She put it on no problem, it was a little cumbersome in the pool, but it was only doing it's job. She didn't like the rolling on her back, she wanted to be upright. She couldn't wait to get in the pool. Couldn't wait for me to get in. Hurry up Mom!!! She had a blast with me and with Suzy. Loved going from one end to the other, down the steps, across the pool with Suzy, out the ladder and back again. She was literally jumping off the side right into my arms.
She is definitely a water baby, not scared at all. I love it. I try not to show any fear around her, and she seems to respond very well to that. I think that's half of the problem. Parents get too scared, and yes, there is lots to be scared of with kids and water, but try to show no fear, and the kids will have no fear. Hopefully that will carry on and swimming lessons later on in life will go well.
And after all that swimming, gotta lay down in the shade and just relax!

Felt Fooding
Recently decided to make some felt food to send to our friend Payton. It was kinda relaxing to pick up the hand sewing and just kinda work through some felt food over the course of a week or so.
Make bacon, fried egg and a pancake with syrup.
Peanut butter and jelly for toast.
A sandwich for lunch, with lettuce, tomato, some lunch meat and 2 cheeses.
Spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti noodles are actually sewn right to the bottom of the dish. I find it's easier then having to pick them all up again. Three meatballs and some extra sauce for the top.
To go with lunch, there are some chips. The bag didn't photograph well but I actually used some oilcloth to make the hole in the bag. So it's clear so you can see what's in the bag. I was quite happy with how it turned out.
Donut and oreo cookie for dessert. I definitely need to make some more food and make some fruit and veggies. This is definitely not a balanced meal! lol

Sticker Fun
This little lady shares with her momma, a love of all things stationary, paper, stickers, crayons and I'm sure later on, markers and scissors.
Audra got a package in the mail chalk full of wonderful princess things from my good friend Mariah, and her little monkey Payton. We laugh, if only we were closer, the two would probably be BFF's. Payton helped to pick out some amazing princess things for Audra. You name it, it was packed into that box! From play dough, to brushes, to chap stick (Audra doesn't know lipstick), to princesses in eggs, and to wonderfully cute stickers and tattoos, we are still having fun with things, over a week later.
There was this neat folded blank card, that was re-useable, with a little pop up castle, and many princess stickers to fill the land with. It's so neat. She also put other stickers on it, and has tons of fun, peeling them on and off and adding new stickers.
Not sure what it is with kids and stickers, but man do they love them.
Jamie has asked that we please do not give Audra stickers in the car, as he doesn't want the car to become one of those cars you see, with the back window absolutely covered in stickers from the child and I have to agree! lol.
Thanks again for the wonderful package from our friends in the north!

New Guacamole
This has become my new favourite thing to eat and make. It's guacamole, but made my own way. Truth be told, not a huge avocado fan, and not a huge fan of real guacamole, as I don't care for coriander. So when avocados were on sale recently, I remembered a recipe I once saw somewhere that added chopped cherry tomatoes and peppers to it.
So I added cherry tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers to the avacados, and instead of coriander, I added dill. I love dill. Bit of salt and pepper, seasoning salt, some crushed garlic and it was all set to eat, put on crackers, dip other veg into, yum.
Jamie said this was a little dilly for his liking, but I think it has something to do with being Polish and having my Babcia put dill in many items, that fostered my love for the herb. I can never get enough of the dill.
And voila, eating some healthy avocados and veggies.
